I use WordPress for my personal blog (http://chutry.wordherders.net/wp/), though in my case it is hosted by a separate server. WordPress, and its main rival, Blogger, are both excellent services, and I’ve used them for course blogs in the past at both Georgia Tech and here at FSU. One example of this is my Rhetoric and Democracy course (http://democracymatters.blogspot.com/). There may be some concerns about privacy if the blog is listed as public, so students should have the option of not blogging under their real names (if the blog is public), but in my experience, students were able to learn the basics of blogging quickly and usually had fun with it. Plus, they are free, which is important.
